Personal Project Assessment Criteria: Revised for use from 2021
The Grading Process
Your final project write-up is graded by your Personal Project Supervisor. Your project goes through a process called moderation. This is a process where another project supervisor will grade the project without knowing the original grade. The two supervisors essentially discuss and agree a mark for each criterion.
If, there is still a disagreement on a mark on a particular criterion or criteria, the project will be forwarded to the Project Coordinator who will have a 'third' look.
In addition to this process, a random selection of projects are graded by the Project Coordinator as a final look at the grading process of the team of supervisors.
This process ensures that there is consistency and fairness in the grading process.
From April 2016, a number of Personal Projects will be sent away for external moderation. Final levels attained are determined by the IB and any awards given by IICS are provisional until the results are determined by the IB in the fall season.
