In this lesson we looked at:
1. What the criteria is for full marks in this section? (Select Sources)
2. What we mean by a varied range of sources and evaluating the sources? (Select Sources) and (Blog)
3. An annotated example of what the section might look like. (Select Sources)
4. Reporting the section on the Report Format (you need to download it and place your Define the Goal and Select Sources in the right sections, then upload this file to ManageBac by 6th December, 9am)
OK, this section is around 700 to 900 words in length and if you do this section well, you will find the word count to be very limiting. This is due to the fact that you may list many different types of sources as well as a number of sources of the same type. In addition if you did the evaluation on all of these sources thoroughly you will go past the word count after just a few of the sources.
So in short,
1. Select from your many sources, ones that you have used that actually help with meeting the goal or specification. How does the information help you.
2. Ensure you write about a full range of sources, simply writing about books and internet sites will not be enough. Think about interviews, surveys, video and conferences that you can include.
3. Evaluate the each sources. What do you know about the source of information, can it be relied upon? Can the information be verified in any way (checked)? What about possible bias? Is the author an 'expert'?
4. Use your Process Journal wisely, add links to sections in the Process Journal that will guide the reader to more information on the evaluating of the sources in particular. Be careful, you must make it easy for the reader to access the information (use dates from your Journal, make sure the information is about the source you have asked the reader to look at).
